Authorities in central Washington say people who were forced from their homes last night [Monday] by a range fire will be allowed to go home.
The fire has burned about two thousand acres near state Highway 17, a few miles north of Soap Lake.
Fire spokesman Jeff Sevigney says new crews have arrived today from around the state.
“We’re just trying to build on the excellent work that was done by the local jurisdictions last night and into this morning. They did phenomenal work with a fast-moving, wind-driven fire that threatened many structures. The good news is no injuries to report today and no structures have been lost," Sevigney said.
There are no travel restrictions in the area and all of the nearby recreational areas remain open. The only closure is part of a city park in Soap Lake where a camp has been set up for firefighters.
