From the Studio: Conductor Marco Parisotto and the Spokane Symphony

This Valentine's weekend, enjoy one of the Spokane Symphony's performances, titled "Tchaikovsky on Dante." This love-themed program features Sibelius' famous Symphony No. 2 as well as Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini and a contemporary work called Aqua by Vivian Fung.  Verne talked with the guest conductor for this concert, Marco Parisotto, who is joining forces with the Spokane Symphony for this classics concert program.  Verne talked with Marco about his conducting experiences, his programming choices, the story behind Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini, his rehearsals with the Spokane Symphony, and more.

The Spokane Symphony will play Saturday, February 13th at 8:00pm and Sunday, February 14th at 3:00pm at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
