A pair of Sandpoint born-and-bred twins have been making a splash in the Northwest music scene since 2007, and are back home to start off a new summer tour. The Shook Twins, Katelyn and Laurie Shook and their band, have released three albums, most recently What We Do in 2014. I spoke on the phone with Laurie while they were back in Idaho.

The band lives in Portland, Oregon, and kicks off their summer tour with a show April 10th in Sandpoint and April 11th in Spokane at the Bartlett.

SPR Music: Local Boys Cast in Broadway's 'Camelot'

West Coast Entertainment has Mamma Mia at the INB performing Arts Center this weekend. But next weekend, they bring a truly classic Broadway show: Camelot. It means show time for three local boys, who Camelot cast for a walk-on role. Watch for the character Tom of Warwick, who will be played by Brax Ziegler, Jameson Elton, and Jordan Santiago. Brax came into our studios to tell us about being cast in Camelot.

The people who put on Terrain each year, the one night art and music event, have a new act up their sleeves. The event ‘Uncharted Territory’ is collaboration with the Spokane Symphony, and local bands. You may have heard of this group from Paul Simon’s Graceland album, or because they have won four Grammy’s, including best world music cd in 2013. Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the South African choir founded by Joseph Shabalala, performs in Spokane March 3rd. Paige Browning spoke with the oldest member of the group over the phone.

A show coming to Spokane this month will rock both theater goers and music fans. The Broadway musical ‘Memphis’ will run four days in Spokane.

Memphis is a show about music, race, and the 1950’s American South. J’royce Walton plays the male swing for the show, meaning he steps in when another actor can’t perform. Paige Browning caught him on his cell phone while the cast was on the road.

A local Native American will be receiving a prestigious award for his music in New York this week. 58 year old Jim Boyd has been entertaining audiences for decades, and this week, will be honored with a Lifetime achievement award at the annual Native American Music Awards ceremony.
