The Whitworth University Art Department and the university’s Bryan Oliver Gallery are proud to present the work of Todd Reed. Join us for an Opening Reception on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 5-6pm, in Lied Art Center, followed by a lecture by the artist at 6pm in Lied 102. Reed’s abstract paintings challenge the viewer to acknowledge the tactile nature of the work as it exists in space. At the same time, the work deals with the more traditional problems/issues of space that are associated with painting. The paintings are created on precisely shaped aluminum panels that are then sprayed with enamels. The resulting objects are smooth and seem to lack any indication of the artist’s hand.
