EWU student Angeline Nesbit will curate the gallery exhibit with Kyrgyzstan tapestries from Anne Marie Burk’s collection located in Spokane.
The tapestries are a marker of the country’s history, the different influences on their design and the craftsmanship by the Kyrgyz women who created them.
The tapestries are attributed to women in Kyrgyzstan who worked individually and in groups to create these uniquely patterned pieces for their homes.
The exhibit begins Monday, Jan. 8 and runs through Friday, Feb. 9. An artists reception will be held from 4:30-6 pm on Thursday, Jan. 25. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres provided.
