Spokane's first-ever Chinese Lantern Festival was such a success, it's coming back to Spokane's Riverfront Park this fall, with all-new light displays.
Spokane Public Radio is a media partner of the celebration from September 16 - October 30.
Lighting up downtown Spokane's Riverfront Park, the festival includes 37 gigantic lantern displays, a cultural village, live performances, interactive exhibits, authentic Chinese cuisine and more.
Some highlights and new features of this year's festival include:
- All lantern displays are NEW (with the exception of the return of the beloved, iconic 196 ft. dragon!).
- 37 lantern displays -- 10 more than last year!
- An interactive, educational area featuring activities like the Dino Dig – a place where kids can dig for dinosaur “fossils.”
- More Asian-style food options, including the return of "Deng Chu," featuring authentic Chinese menus created by nationally-recognized Spokane chef/restaurateur Jeremy Hansen.
