This week on the Inland Journal, reporter Austin Jenkins from the Northwest News Network takes us behind prison walls. He’ll explore why 11 Washington state inmates took their lives in the years 2014 and 2015.
“Four of the suicides happened, over these two years, at Airway Heights. And this was an institution that, as the suicides mounted, as the numbers climbed, was thrown into crisis mode.”
We’ll hear part of Austin’s documentary and then he’ll join us for a follow-up conversation.
Also, how will potential changes in health care at the federal level affect rural hospitals?
“If there’s going to be any kind of a repeal of the ACA, we would like to see some sort of replacement that goes with that.”
We’ll talk with the administrator of the hospital in Brewster in central Washington.
That’s next on the Inland Journal from Spokane Public Radio.
