From the Studio: Pianist Fei-Fei Dong and Spokane Symphony Guest Conductor Pavel Baleff

The Spokane Symphony's Classics series continues this weekend with "Sounds of Scandinavia".  Pianist Fei-Fei Dong and guest conductor Pavel Baleff joined us in the studio this morning to speak with Verne about the upcoming concert.  Fei-Fei Dong also treated us to a short live performance!

The "Sounds of Scandinavia" performances are on November 12 at 8pm and November13 at 3pm and will feature music of Niels Wilhelm Gade, Edvard Grieg and Carl Nielsen. More information and tickets can be found on the Spokane Symphony website.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
